Love is in the air for Lainey Wilson and her fiancé Devlin “Duck” Hodges—but the wedding bells aren’t ringing just yet.
The Lousiana-born country superstar, 33, and the former quarterback from Alabama, 29, have been engaged since February, but haven’t yet had a chance to plan their nuptials.
“Well, you ain’t gonna believe this but we still have not planned it, bless his heart,” Wilson told Taste of Country when asked about her wedding plans with Hodges—who played for both the NFL and CFL—in an August interview.
The “Heart Like a Truck” singer—who’s currently on her 2025Whirlwind World Tour and recently performed as part of SiriusXM’s Small Stage Series—revealed that her busy schedule has played a role in delaying plans for the special day.
“It just seems like everything else is getting planned” instead, she said.
Wilson further explained to the outlet that she and her team are already arranging shows into 2027, which has left less potential wedding dates available.
However, the happy couple have still had conversations about their big day.
“Of course we sit around and talk about like, what we would want. Just trying to figure out is it [the wedding] big or small? Is cousin so-and-so coming? Is cousin so-and-so not?” the Grammy Award-winner told Taste of Country.
The wedding will embrace the pair’s country roots, as Wilson then shared that they will “probably” leave the ceremony and enter the reception on horseback. However, she told the publication that they might play jazz music at the reception rather than country.
Wilson and Hodges—who have been dating since 2021—shared their engagement news in a joint Instagram post from February 12 that referenced the country star’s 2024 song “4x4xU.”
“4x4xU forever,” they wrote alongside the sweet carousel of photos and video that showed off the singer-songwriter’s gorgeous ring.
The acclaimed musician began her Whirlwind World Tour—which includes special guests Muscadine Bloodline, ERNEST, Zach Meadows, Lauren Watkins, Drake Milligan, Maddox Batson, and Kailtin Butts—in Zurich, Switzerland on March 4.
She then performed in Antwerp, Belgium; Rotterdam, the Netherlands; Berlin, Germany; Copenhagen, Denmark; London, England; Belfast, Northern Ireland; Glasgow, Scotland; and Paris, France.
The U.S. leg of Wilson’s tour began on August 14 in Phoenix, Arizona before heading to Albuquerque, New Mexico; Denver, Colorado; and Bend, Oregon. She is scheduled to perform in Sacramento, California, today, August 22.
The country megastar will travel to numerous cities across the country before wrapping up the tour in Orlando, Florida on November 8.
The deluxe version of her fifth studio album, Whirlwind, drops today. The original edition was released on August 23, 2024.
