Northern California forecast: Valley showers, Sierra thunderstorms likely Friday
WORKS. TIME IS 619. WEATHER IMPACT DAY. TODAY. WE COULD GET SOME THUNDERSTORMS IN THE MOUNTAINS. YEAH, THE MOUNTAINS WILL BE KIND OF THE HOT SPOT, IF YOU WILL. BUT THE VALLEYS ALSO GETTING A LITTLE BIT OF ACTION ALONG WITH THE FOOTHILLS. LET ME WALK YOU THROUGH WHAT THE SCENARIO IS AS WE LOOK THROUGH THE DAY AHEAD ON THIS IMPACT DAY. BIGGEST IMPACT FOR VALLEY FOLKS. IT’S GOING TO BE THE RAIN IN THE MORNING. THE SHOWERS ARE WIDELY SCATTERED AND IT’S REALLY LOCATION DEPENDENT. IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE HEADING OUT ON THE ROADWAYS ANYTIME SOON THROUGH THE 9:00 HOUR, JUST PLAN FOR THOSE SCATTERED SHOWERS. NOW, ONCE WE GET BEYOND ABOUT 10 A.M., SHOWERS WILL REALLY BE TAPERING OFF AT THAT POINT WITH JUST A MODERATE IMPACT DURING THAT 10:00 TO NOON TIME FRAME. AND THEN BEYOND THAT, BEYOND ABOUT LUNCHTIME, WE’RE GOING TO BE DRYING OUT IN THE VALLEY. IT’S GOING TO BE CLEAR. GOOD TO GO WEATHER. IF YOU ARE HEADING OUT TO A FOOTBALL GAME THIS EVENING WHERE THE ROAD CONDITIONS ARE PRETTY WET, HERE IS THE VIEW. HIGHWAY 50 AT SPRING STREET. GOOD MORNING PLACERVILLE FOLKS. MAYBE GOING A LITTLE TOO FAST IN THE RAIN, BUT ALSO KEEP IN MIND, EVEN AS THE SUN COMES UP IN JUST UNDER AN HOUR, THAT IF YOU ARE DRIVING THROUGH THE RAIN, HEADLIGHTS ALWAYS NEED TO BE ON AS THE WINDSHIELD WINDSHIELD WIPERS ARE ON LOW 60S WAKING UP IN SACRAMENTO 69. IN STOCKTON UPPER 60S MODESTO. RIGHT NOW IT’S 51 LAKE TAHOE. HERE’S HOW THINGS HAVE BEEN KIND OF BREWING WHILE YOU’VE BEEN SLEEPING ON THE RADAR SWEEP WITHIN THE LAST THREE HOURS. A LOT OF LIGHTNING HERE ALONG THE COAST RANGE, AND I DO EXPECT THAT THAT’S LIKELY WHERE IT’S GOING TO RESIDE THROUGHOUT THE MORNING TIME FRAME WILL BE DEALING WITH THE VALLEY FOOTHILLS IN THE SIERRA FOR THE MORNING, WIDELY SCATTERED SHOWERS AND SOME OF THESE SHOWERS ARE MORE MODERATE TO HEAVY INTENSITY. YOU’LL SEE HERE AROUND AUBURN AND UP IN THROUGH COLFAX, MEADOW, VISTA, ROCKLIN WE’VE GOT SOME LIGHTER RAIN SHOWERS AND MOST OF THAT RAIN PUSHING TO THE EAST OF FOLSOM LAKE WORKING DOWN THE 50 STRETCH STRETCH THERE AS YOU GO INTO CAMERON PARK, POLLOCK PINES AREA AND CAMINO. GETTING SOME GOOD STEADY RAIN THIS MORNING. YOU’LL SEE HERE ALONG AREAS LIKE 88 AND HIGHWAY FOUR. WE’VE GOT SOME PASSING RAIN EAST OF ARNOLD BEAR VALLEY, GETTING A GOOD SOAKING CELL RIGHT NOW, BUT AREAS HERE SOUTH OF SACRAMENTO OR WEST ALONG INTERSTATE 80 AND FAIRFIELD. PRETTY QUIET START SO FAR. STOCKTON MODESTO. YOU’RE ALSO INCLUDED IN THAT PLANNER FOR TODAY. AGAIN, BEST SHOT AT RAIN THROUGH THE EARLY TO MID MORNING PARTS BEYOND NOON. WE CLEAR OUT TODAY IN THE FOOTHILLS. THERE MIGHT BE A BRIEF SHOWER BEYOND LUNCHTIME, BUT YOU’RE REALLY GOING TO CLEAR OUT NICELY BEYOND ABOUT 3:00 IN THE SIERRA, THE FOCUS WILL BE ON SCATTERED SHOWERS IN THE MORNING, THUNDERSTORMS IN THE AFTERNOON, AND EVEN THOSE WILL BE PRETTY WIDELY SCATTERED. THIS IS 9:00 FUTURECAST. YOU CAN SEE ALONG HIGHWAY FOUR. GOOD CELL BEING DETECTED THERE. AND THEN THE VALLEY STARTS TO ACTUALLY SEE SOME BRIGHTENING SKIES BEYOND LUNCHTIME. WE CLEAR OUT NICELY INTO YOUR FRIDAY EVENING, AND THE WEEKEND SETUP LOOKS LIKE THIS. WE’VE GOT A LITTLE DISTURBANCE OFF THE COAST. THAT’S ABOUT IT. THAT MAY TRIGGER SOME MOUNTAIN SHOWERS INTO SATURDAY AND SUNDAY AFTERNOONS, BUT HIGH PRESSURE WILL GAIN SOME STRENGTH AND WE ARE GOING TO SEE TEMPERATURES WARMING BY THE END OF THE WEEKEND AND INTO EARLY PARTS OF NEXT WEEK. TODAY THOUGH
