Hanna Cavinder, Carson Beck’s Ex-Girlfriend: Why She Broke Up With Him

In one of the most hotly anticipated matchups of college football’s official opening weekend, No. 6 Notre Dame returns to the field for the first time since getting to the CFB National Championship game in January only to fall 34-23 to Ohio State. The Fighting Irish travel on Sunday to southern Florida to take on the No. 10 Miami Hurricanes, rekindling one of the fiercest rivalries of the 1980s.

In 27 all-time meetings between the two iconic football schools, the Irish have historically dominated, winning 18, losing just eight with one tie.

‘Catholics vs. Convicts’ Rivalry

But the rivalry reached its peak in the ’80s when the teams faced each other every year from 1980 to 1990 (except for 1986), with Miami winning six of the 10 games, and with Miami’s bad-boy reputation, giving the rivalry the nickname “Catholics vs. Convicts.”

The Irish and Hurricanes then took a two-decade break from each other, not meeting again until 2010. Sunday’s clash will be just the fifth since 1990, and first since 2017 when Miami snapped a four-game losing streak against Notre Dame, dishing out a 41-8 beat down.

But Sunday’s game promises to be the most intense since the days of “Catholics vs. Convicts,” with both teams holding top-10 spots in the preseason rankings, and Miami debuting a new bad-boy quarterback who makes as much news off the field as on it — 23-year-old Carson Beck.

Beck Transfers to Miami

After four years at Georgia, including two as the backup quarterback on the Bulldogs’ back-to-back national champion teams in 2021 and 2022, Beck transferred to Miami for his final year of eligibility — after declaring for the NFL draft then pulling out when it became apparent that he was unlikely to be selected high on the board.

Georgia faced Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff quarterfinal in January, but Beck was out with an elbow injury for that Notre Dame victory.

Beck has received nearly as much attention for his dating life, however, ending his relationship with Miami women’s basketball star and social media influencer Hanna Cavinder earlier this year. The 24-year-old Cavinder was widely believed to have influenced Beck’s transfer to Miami, which she denies.

Hanna Caviner Spills Reasons For Breakup

Now, the basketball and TikTok star has spoken out about her reasons for splitting with the Hurricanes quarterback.

Beck was widely rumored to have cheated on his girlfriend, but Cavinder said, as quoted by TMZ Sports, that if he did, she was not aware of it until after the breakup.

Instead, she said, she broke up with Beck “because of who he was.”

‘Revelations’ Came in Conversation With Young Trump

Her comments, and those of her twin sister and business partner Haley Cavinder, came in viral footage of a conversation with Donald Trump’s granddaughter Kai Trump, who is a member of the Hurricanes’ golf team in her first year at Miami. According to a Fox News report, Haley Cavinder told the 17-year-old Trump that Beck was “on his phone like this, the whole time.”

Beck’s “embarrassing” behavior also contributed to the breakup, Hanna said.

“He would, like, flip off people at the bar, and I’d be embarrassed,” the Hurricanes hooper said in the conversation, as quoted by Fox. “So I broke up with him, and all this cheating s*** came out. I had no idea. I didn’t break up with him because he cheated. I broke up with him because of who he was.”
