CGMagazine had the opportunity to sit down and quickly chat with Georgie Farmer and Joy Sunday on Netflix’s Wednesday.
Spooky season is almost upon us, as Spirit Halloween locations begin to open up their gates again. CGMagazine had the opportunity to sit down and chat with Georgie Farmer and Joy Sunday on Netflix’s Wednesday. Farmer, Sunday, Isaac Ordonez visited Toronto for Fan Expo 2025, taking pictures around the Toronto skyline and promoting the next part of Season 2. While we did not speak about any spoilers for Wednesday Season 2 Part 2, Farmer and Sunday provided a deeper introspection into their respective characters Ajax and Bianca. For those still catching up on the latest episodes of the coming-of-age mystery series, our summary may spoil a couple of things. So, skip the immediate recap paragraph below or simply catch up!
Wednesday Season 2 Part 1 picks back up with Wednesday Addams returning to Nevermore Academy. In the midst of her return, she reluctantly becomes a campus celebrity and the target of a mysterious avian stalker. She investigates the stalker, discovering a clandestine “Lois” program conducting unethical experiments on outcasts at the Willow Hill Psychiatric Facility, revealing the stalker to be the program’s leader’s bird-controlling daughter. The season culminates with Wednesday infiltrating Willow Hill to rescue her Uncle Fester, confronting the program’s architect, Augustus Stonehurst, and ultimately being brutally injured after a battle with a freed Tyler.
One of the biggest moments from Season 1 was when Principal Weems (Gwendoline Christie) was killed off, and this new season has a new principal—Principal Dort (Steve Buscemi). We asked how it was working with Buscemi on Wednesday Season 2 Part 1, and Sunday noted, “He’s so sweet and kind. It was amazing to learn from him. [You can] observe how he makes every scene a painting.” “He’s one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. He was so generous with us, for advice. That scene that we do in Episode Four, where he walks in and says, ‘but that’s what leaders do’, I laughed so many times. He’s Incredible.” Farmer added to Buscemi’s praise.

Whether you have seen Wednesday Season 2 Part 1 or not, the characters are bound to grow. “For Ajax, finding himself in high school is a big one. It was a big thing for me, trying to figure out who I was.” Farmer shared on the aloof and wholesome Gorgon, Ajax.
Sunday went in-depth on Bianca’s evolution as a person and as a Siren: “I’d say vulnerability is a huge one for Bianca because she’s not used to being able to lean on people. It’s not a luxury she got to enjoy before, and so she really has to become comfortable with it. That’s the journey for herself, and the community as well. She’s always been a lone wolf or lone Siren, not having an opportunity to really feel at home. So, in Season 2, being welcomed into the Addams family home and getting to lean on her classmates has been a big deal for her.”
Farmer also talked about some of the themes sewn deeper in Wednesday‘s overall story. “Even though this is a fantasy world and these characters have abilities, each character is grounded in humanity. They’re each going through very human things. Hopefully, that’s why people have connected to them.” These themes resonated with me too, as outcasts have to deal with their human emotions while also dealing with regular teenage hormones and angst.

The best way that Farmer and Sunday summed up Wednesday Season 2 Part 2 is the word “teamwork.” As in the previous season, teamwork did make the dream work for Wednesday and her friends to take down the big bads. Farmer, Sunday, and Ordonez put teamwork to the test, answering fan questions at their Fan Expo 2025 panel.
Thank you to Netflix and Touchwood PR for arranging the interview. Netflix’s Wednesday Season 2 Part 2 begins streaming September 3rd, 2025, at 3:00 AM ET.
