Do the Tigers play today? How to watch Tigers vs Blue Jays series

The Detroit Tigers are in a slump, but maybe some home cooking can get them back on track.

The Tigers are heading back to Detroit to start a four-game series against the first-place Toronto Blue Jays, from Thursday, July 24 through Sunday, July 27. And things are very different from when these two teams last met from May 16-18.

That trip to Toronto saw the Tigers at 30-15, comfortably in first place in the American League Central and playing great baseball. The Blue Jays, meanwhile, were two games below .500 and down five games to the New York Yankees in the AL East.

Detroit’s division lead still holds, with the Tigers now at 60-43 with an eight-game lead over the second-place Cleveland Guardians. However, the Blue Jays have squeaked past the Tigers in the overall league standings, now at 60-42 and tied with the Houston Astros for the best record in the AL.

Much of that is due to the Tigers’ recent slump, as Detroit has lost nine of 10 games and each of its last three series. The Blue Jays, meanwhile, are 14-4 in July and currently have a four-game lead over the second-place Yankees in the AL East.

On paper, this looks a heavyweight showdown of two of the AL’s best teams … except with the Blue Jays looking like the hottest team in the AL and the Tigers looking like the coldest team.
