Dennis Rodman Says Michael Jordan Is the Goat—but This Other Player Doesn’t Get Enough Respect

The question of who the greatest basketball player of all time is (or the GOAT) continues to spark debate, with Michael Jordan and LeBron James most often at the center of the discussion.

But Dennis Rodman, who played alongside Jordan during the Chicago Bulls’ dynasty years, recently weighed in and made his position clear.

Appearing on streamer N3ON’s YouTube livestream earlier this week, Rodman was asked directly whether Jordan or James deserved the GOAT title. His response was immediate: “We know who that is. Jordan all day long.”

Rodman witnessed Jordan’s dominance firsthand during the Bulls’ run in the 1990s. Between 1991 and 1998, Jordan led Chicago to six NBA championships. He also collected five regular-season MVP awards, was selected to 14 All-Star Games, and earned 10 First Team All-NBA nods, cementing his reputation as one of the most accomplished players in league history.

James, however, has compiled his own case. Since entering the NBA in 2003, James has won four championships, earned four MVP awards, and has been named to 20 All-Star teams. Earlier this year, he surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, adding another milestone to his career.

While Rodman gave Jordan the edge, he also emphasized that another player is too often left out of the conversation: Kobe Bryant.

“People forgot about that one guy. That one guy, that’s called Kobe Bryant. People forget about him. They talk about everybody else. They don’t talk about Kobe for some reason,” Rodman said to the popular streamer.

Bryant, who spent his entire 20-year career with the Los Angeles Lakers, won five championships and appeared in 18 All-Star Games. He was named league MVP in 2008 and retired as one of the NBA’s top all-time scorers.

Bryant’s legacy is also tied to the tragic circumstances of his passing. On January 26, 2020, Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, and seven others were killed in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California.
