After a 14-0 start to August helped build a nine-game lead in the National League Central Division, the relentless engine that is the Milwaukee Brewers cooled a bit last week when the team lost back-to-back series for the first time since June.

While a 3-5 mark vs. the second-place Chicago Cubs and San Francisco Giants certainly isn’t cause for alarm yet, the four-game series with the Arizona Diamondbacks may carry a bit more importance than usual. At the conclusion of seven-game homestand at American Family Field, the Brewers travel to Toronto to face the AL East-leading Blue Jays, before coming back home for a three-game set with the NL-East-leading Philadelphia Phillies.

Meanwhile, the Cubs are three games into a 24-game stretch against opponents with losing records and are suddenly five games back of the Brewers after a 6-2 week.
