YouTube TV Adds More Local TV Stations

YouTube TV, one of the leading live TV streaming platforms in the United States, has announced the addition of several new local channels to its lineup, including KOLO-DT3, a CW affiliate based in Reno, Nevada. This move is part of the platform’s ongoing effort to enhance its local programming offerings, catering to cord-cutters seeking regional content without traditional cable subscriptions. With over 8 million subscribers, YouTube TV continues to solidify its position as a top choice for live TV streaming by expanding its roster of over 130 channels.

The inclusion of KOLO-DT3, which broadcasts as Reno’s CW affiliate, brings popular CW programming such as Superman & Lois, All American, and sports content like ACC football and LIV Golf to viewers in the Reno area. KOLO-DT3 also features local news programming, including KOLO 8 News Now at 10 on Reno’s CW, offering Northern Nevada residents access to regional updates alongside national entertainment. This addition addresses viewer demand for localized content, particularly in smaller markets where access to CW affiliates has been limited.

YouTube TV’s expansion of local channels builds on a 2023 multi-year agreement with Nexstar Media Group, which brought nearly 60 CW stations to the platform. Since then, the streaming service has incrementally added more affiliates, including recent additions like WMBB-DT2 in Panama City, Florida, and KELO-DT4 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, both set to launch on September 20, 2025. Other stations, such as WWTI-DT2 in Watertown, New York, and WVIR-DT3 in Charlottesville, Virginia, are slated for November 2025 and July 2025, respectively. Gray Television-owned CW stations, including KOLO-DT3, are also part of this expansion, with more affiliates like KFVS-DT2 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and WABI-DT2 in Bangor, Maine, expected to join soon.

This strategic focus on local channels aligns with YouTube TV’s mission to replicate the cable TV experience while offering flexibility and affordability. Priced at $82.99 per month, the base plan includes these new local affiliates at no additional cost, providing subscribers with seamless access to both national and regional content. The platform’s robust features, such as unlimited cloud DVR storage and support for up to six household accounts, further enhance its appeal.

This news comes as YouTube TV continues to slowly add new local channels.
